Toys R Us Furby Baby Launch Event (1999)

On Tuesday, August 31st 1999 at precisely 8:30am, a Furby Baby themed ambulance makes it's way to New York's Toys R Us location, Herald Square, 1293 Broadway. Adults & children are dressed as doctors and nurses, and pacing up and down the street is a very worried Furby Father. What is going on? I will leave you to watch the video (link below), it really is a fantastic event!

25 Years Later A New Furby Range! Finally A Website Update!

Hello everyone! As you can see from my last post, I'm probably the worst person in the world at keeping a website up to date!

I have some good News though, as from today, I am reaching into my positivity pocket and pulling out some extra effort which hopefully will help keep this desolate Furby website from drowning into the abyss! There's still lots to do! I have so many photos I need to edit and add to various pages on the website, and hopefully over the next few months, you will start to see some changes happening.

Anyway, enough about the website, let's move onto some amazing News.
A new Furby has been released! Seven years of painstakingly waiting, and we finally have, not one, but three new Furby designs for 2023, two standard versions and also an exclusive to Smyths Toys. So let's jump right in!

Coral Plush is my favourite design in the new range, although a lot of people on Social Media have just been calling her orange. The image on the Official Furby Website shows a much different colour. Light pinks, orangey yellows, but let's not criticise the colour too much, it's nice to get anything new from Hasbro regarding Furby right?

There's a couple of things I wasn't too sure about when I first laid my eyes on these new guys. No colourful light up eyes and no moving mouth? I was a tiny bit disappointed but after the initial shock, they are growing on me. The original Furby eye's are just plastic nothing special, so I guess it's a nod to old times.

Personally, I really would have loved a moving mouth, but we can't have everything we want. The addition of beads around the waste and the new Anime style eyes, tells me that Hasbro have been doing their online research, looking over how people are customising their original Furby and then doing their own take with the new design. Good job Hasbro, and we all love glowing ears, right guys?

This beautiful girl is called Purple Plush, and just like Coral Plush she has the cool beads around the waste, Anime eyes and glowing ears. Her fur is a mix of blues and purples which seems more obvious on this version. I really love this colour too, but coral is my current favourite. As you know I am an avid collector of Furby, so I really have no choice but to add both colours to the collection, when they are available over here. (I have already pre-ordered!).

So that's the two main colours for the new Furby, what do you think? I am pretty happy with them, as I said earlier, it's a blessing to see any new Furby these days. I really thought Hasbro had given up on the Furby brand, but they had to do something for the 25 years anniversary, and they didn't disappoint.

Wait a second, I mentioned three new Furby designs earlier right? Ah yes, I nearly forgot! There is a third, but it might be a little tricky to find this one, unless you live in France.

Smyths Toys are doing a special limited edition Tie and Dye Furby. I have heard rumours online that it's only available in France, but fingers crossed we will all be able to purchase this version in the very near future. Well that's all the News for now, I will post more when I receive my new Furbys. Have fun guys! imgsrc digital_momster, annichu333
